I was reading on the Anthropic Principle discussing on the origins of the universe and this parable to illustrate the principle made me think for quite a bit:
I was reading through a contract between 2 parties and I came upon this clause which says:
The XXXXXXX shall not be responsible for any loss or damage, or failure to comply or delay in complying with any duty or obligation under or pursuant to this Agreement arising as a direct or indirect result of any reason, cause or contingency beyond its reasonable control, including, but not limited to, natural disasters, nationalisation, currency restrictions, act of war, act of terrorism, act of God, postal or other strikes or industrial actions, or the failure, suspension or disruption of any relevant stock exchange, clearance system or market. The legal term "act of God" is defined as such (Wiki): Act of God is a legal term[1] for events outside of human control, such as sudden floods or other natural disasters, for which no one can be held responsible....... The phrase, “act of God”, is sometimes used to attribute an event to divine intervention. Often it is used in conjunction with a natural disaster or tragic event: A miracle, by contrast, is often considered a fortuitous event attributed to divine intervention. Some consider it separate from acts of nature and being related to fate or destiny [2] It would seem a little unfair to put the blame on God if no one can be held responsible for these events. There are much better candidates from the netherworld than God. Even in normal daily lives of people, whenever something bad happens they would at the first instance point at God! but when something good happens to them they say "wow I'm so lucky". Bad = God , Good = Luck. Seems to me the perception of God is some one who likes to torment humans and make their lives miserable. boread.
the wheels of this old machine has started to turn once more! well at least for now when im a little more free. anyway the purpose of this place is to entertain me when im bored so, you've guessed it i'm bored! just had an over dose of fried stuff at work and now im feeling too fat to move anywhere in the house....and when im typing this the stupid cat is waiting for his chance to scratch me...saw this weird article on the web today and i tot was really funny. its about Dr. M discussing his views on 9/11 and this comment almost made me laugh out loud.."There is strong evidence that the attacks were staged. If they can make Avatar, they can make anything" seriously, this Dr M. must be in some sort of a fantasy dream. an ex statesman making such a stupid comment. such poor taste in his comments not to mention a disgrace to his people. with all the church bombing in his country it made perfect sense, drawing the attention off his backyard to NY, nice.... ok, enuff typing for the day. still need to sleep early to wake up for mac-ers tomorrow...
people who don't wash their feet regularly should be banned from wearing thongs. i took the usual 9.40am bus to sch for morning service today and my senses was assaulted by a mixture of rotten sourness and sweet scent of perfume that apparently came from this lady seated right in front of me. this horrible smell tormented me and i almost died in the bus. thank God the journey lasted only 8 mins.
God makes the impossible, possible. I tot I had failed my controls quiz, only knew how to do 1 question out of 2. No matter how much i studied, it was just beyond me to do that question in an exam environment.. I was thinking o well i tried my best and maybe ill get some marks off the 2nd question and get like 23 / 40. And to my amazement when i checked my score, i was right. I hit 23 alright but out of 30 ! apparent there was some typographical error in question part c and d. Rather than compensate for marks , he took off those 2 parts out to make it out of 30. Amazing isn't it. Praise God!

it's been 1 year 3 months or so and finally I'm able to type an entry in the afternoon without taking leave or worrying about work! nothing beats waking up at 10 am knowing you have all the time in the world to do all you want. but .. i feel kinda weird not doing the routine, the ritual of logging to my office mail and clearing one by one. ill miss the wonderful colleagues i had that made the monotonous work life enjoyable. was a great experience working in an MNC and interacting with all levels of management. as i end this phase in my life, i embark on another. back to school for me.
